Re: Christmas Promos!

I did a series of naughty Santa tales. It is what Santa did to those who were naughty, not nice. It was funny, got earplay and added to the holiday spirit.

Re: Remote Tables/displays ideas......

What do you want people to do at your booth? Just walk by? Get involved? If you want them to do something, you have to make it clear what they should do and how they can do it in a minute or two. How do you plan to stand out from the other booths? Is the event being covered live? Why not? Get listen...

You are correct that local programming is essential, but you also have to have courage in your local talk programming to say bad things as they happen in your local community. If you can't talk about how sick people got at a local restaurant for fear that no restaurant will advertise with you, you h...

Re: Ad talent compensation, need advice

Nope. You did this as a part of your job. It was what they bought when they bought the slots. Unless you had a separate written agreement to the contrary, or the station has an exclusive clause in your sales contract, your recording is a 'work for hire' without future royalties.

Re: Looking for that dare to be great website.

If you want to avoid a money pit you must know what you want before you hire a web redesign. Flashy stuff is annoying and old school. It is not about winning awards or looking cool. It is about delivering something valuable to your audience (and even your advertisers). Remember that the web is a sep...

Re: HD Radio = HUGE DISASTER!!!

High Def = Multi-track. Not higher quality or content. The name is terrible. The public does not get it, not does it care. I think a campaign to remind people of the value of broadcast radio is more essential in contrast to digital and time-shifting alternatives What I would like to see is money and...

Re: Showing your team what you've got!

Know your product. That is part of every in the sales cycle. As part of training and periodic retraining, sales people should get exposure to all aspects of the station. This give perspective on how things get down, what gets in the way, where the priorities are and most importantly it is a reality ...

Re: Great Jock Exercise!

So you finally trusted the people you hired to do a great job and to bring their A game and you are surprised. If you don't think people care about your audience and your station, then why hire them? If you don't trust your team to perform, why have them? You have hired creative talent and for the f...
